Ducks with a Mission

Students at Eugene Mission Eugene has one of the highest per capita rates of homelessness in the country. Ducks with a Mission wanted to create a project that would support people in Eugene who are experiencing homelessness through the winter months and beyond.

A group of six students partnered with Eugene Mission to create 60 reusable bags to help provide essential resources to people experiencing homelessness. The group worked with Eugene Mission to understand the needs of the community they were serving and created a list of essential items for the winter months. In the bags there were also accessible phone numbers, addresses of shelters and their operating times, and meal availability options. Once the bags were put together the students were able to attend a gathering at Eugene Mission and sit side by side with community members. The students learned about the struggles and setbacks that people face every day, and the importance of de-stigmatizing people who are homeless.
